2023 La Rumeur Red Blend

This is the third release of La Rumeur, Bricoleur Vineyards' Sonoma County red blend. The blend consists of Zinfandel, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc. The wine opens with brambly red and dark fruit, giving way to brooding notes of leather and dark plum. On the palate, it's rich and layered as black cherry and blueberry carry through to a lingering, peppery finish.

The 2023 growing season was a much-welcomed change of pace as above average winter rainfall replenished aquifers and left soil profiles fully saturated to start the growing season. A cool slow progression into spring delayed bud break and prolonged flowering, generally slowing the start to the season and the timeline of grape development. Veraison was two to three weeks behind compared to recent vintages.

Bricoleur Vineyard’s 2023 La Rumeur is a custom blend. After the individual lots completed primary and secondary fermentation the winemaking team crafted the blend in the spring of 2024 as the wines became expressive. The blend aged in barrel for nearly an additional year allowing the wine to seamlessly come together.
