2022 La Rumeur Red Blend

This is the second release of La Rumeur red blend by Bricoleur Vineyards. The wine leads with approachable brambly fruit aromas followed by brooding aromas of leather and dark plum. The palate is rich, offering flavors of black cherry, blueberry and a slight peppercorn finish.

The 2022 growing season packed a few surprises with early frost and an abbreviated winter contributing to lower yields across Sonoma County. A Labor Day heat wave and September showers condensed the window of harvest by a few weeks. Overall, the quality of the fruit was extremely high and resulted in concentrated flavors and even phenolic ripeness across blocks. La Rumeur: French for “the rumor” our custom blend celebrates the convivial banter that surrounds each vintage in Sonoma County. Questions like how does this vintage compare to the last, or the vintage before that? Did Mother Nature bring unforeseen challenges or was she harmonious right up to the last pick? As we trade stories, themes reveal themselves and eventually a story solidifies. Our final blend is the summation of these annual stories, bringing “La Rumeur” to life.

Bricoleur Vineyard’s 2022 La Rumeur is a custom blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, and Pinot Noir. After the individual lots had completed primary and secondary fermentation the winemaking team crafted the blend in the spring of 2023 as the wines became expressive. The blend aged in barrel for nearly a year allowing the attributes to seamlessly come together.
